Six points for Civo as Blue Eagles fail to impress

Civo Service United beat Karonga United 2-1 to return home with six points following another 1-0 victory on Saturday against Chitipa United.

Raphael Phiri scored a late goal after Antony Mfune had cancelled out Lusekero Malema’s own goal to hand Civo Service United a victory.

The win helped the Servants move to the top as they displace city rivals Silver Strikers FC.

Civo Service United neighbours Blue Eagles came from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Mzuzu Worriors at Mzuzu stadium.

Collen Nkhulambe put the host ahead through a first half penalty before another penalty to Blue Eagles which Stuart Mbunge converted.

The result means both teams have maintained their positions on the standings as Blue Eagles remains on 12th with six points, a point above Mzuzu Worriors who stays one step behind the Area 30 side.

Another team that grabbed a single point away from home is Mtopwa FC who suffered a 2-1 defeat in the hands of TN Stars.

Mtopwa FC who were impressive in their 2-2 draw on Saturday against Kamuzu Barracks were humbled to a 2-1 defeat courtesy of Gift Chunga and China Chirwa goals to bag maximum points for the Kasungu outfit.

Mtopwa stays on fifth position with ten points while TN Stars have moved from ninth to seventh on the table.

In Blantyre, Red Lions have moved from fifth position to second following a 1-0 win over sixth placed Ekwendeni Hammers.

Royal Bokosi scored a lone for the Soldiers from Zomba, taking his goal tally to six this season.
