With just a point seperating them from Ngwanje FC and Play Football Malawi, Joseph FC is under pressure as they look forward to play their final match on Saturday to wrap up the 2021 Chipiku central region Division One football league.

Joseph FC leads the table with 8 points from 5 games followed by Ngwanje FC and Play Football Malawi who are second and third respectively with 7 points each.

In an interview with The Atlas Malawi, Joseph FC coach Elvis Kafoteka said the league has been challenging and he looks forward to the last match which they are to play third placed Play Football Malawi on Saturday, 16 October at Civo stadium.

If Joseph FC wins the match they will get to 11 points and be crowned champions. A loss or a draw would be a block for them as they would wait on the result between Dedza Soccer city and Ngwanje FC who will take each other at Dedza stadium the same day.

Dedza Soccer city are bottom of the log table with 6 points from 5 matches and a win would get them to 9 points.

Kafoteka has said this brings alot of pressure to them but they are well prepared for the match and defy the odds.

“As a team we praise God for this journey so far, it has not been easy but we are here. Many didn’t give us a chance and this being a last game we will surely give our best as there is alot at stake. Yes we are under pressure but pressure is always there. I always try to take the pressure off my players I just want them to be themselves and play freely.” he said.

On any special preparation for the wrap up match, Kafoteka said there wont be any special plan in terms of preparations but will just demand 100% concentration and hardwork from his players.

“There is no special preparation, I always take one game at a time and I want my players to realize the importance of this match and remind them what they are playing for. They are playing for everyone; their families, the owner of the team, their destinies, the team’s supporters and themselves,” Kafoteka added.

On the final day, both Dedza and Civo Stadium will be graced with a cup that will be presented to the winners of the league.

According to Central Region Football Association officials, a prize presentation ceremony will be held later on a date to be announced.
