Peter Banda fires brace in Bullets win as Wanderers drop nearer relegation zone

Peter Banda scored a first-half brace to help Nyasa Big Bullets beat Kamuzu Barracks 3-1 in a TNM Super League match played behind closed doors at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Banda who was featured for the last time before his departure for a month-long trial at a Moldovan side FC Sherrif Tiraspol, broke the deadlock through a free-kick on 8th minutes before completing his brace with just five minutes to go before half time.

Before Bullets’ second goals, Hassan Kajoke and Chimwemwe Idana squandered a number of golden chances in their search to increase the lead.

On 45th minute, the People’s team were 3-0 up curtecy of substitute Zicco Mkanda who replaced Misheck Seleman after sustaining a head injury.

In the second half Nyasa Big Bullets were more defensive as they substituted attacking players like Idana and Enerst Petro and they brought in Captain John Lanjesi and his vice Chimango Kaira.

Their opponents introduced Sam Gunda and Ndaona Daice to improve their attack no wonder they found the back of the net with eight minutes to go through Gregory Nachipo.

The result means Kamuzu Barracks are returning to the capital city empty handed after another 2-1 defeat to Red Lions on Saturday.

For the part of Bullets, the win has lifted them from 11th to 8th on the standings with eleven points and they have played two games less to the top two teams, Red Lions and Silver Strikers.

The people’s team neighbours Be Forward Wanderers have stuck at 12th position with six points from six games.

The Nomads who lost 2-0 on Saturday against Karonga United will drop to the relegation zone if they lose next game and their closest followers wins or draw.

Another team that registered a win on Sunday afternoon was Mtopwa FC who relied on Clement Ngombe’s lone strike to beat Karonga United 1-0 In a Match played at Chiwembe Stadium.

In Lilongwe, Civo Service United came from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Moyale Barracks.

Gastin Simkonda was on target for the Kaning’ina soldiers while Lanken Mwale scored for the Servants.

After conceding four against Blue Eagles on Saturday, Chitipa United have lost again in the hands of TN Stars. Chiletso Zoya was on target for the hosts.

Chitipa United are still winless this season after playing seven games they have collected one point and they stay at the bottom of the log table.
