Nkhoma Synod Radio in mental health awareness through poetry

The Nkhoma Synod Radio has organized the poetry show scheduled for 12th December 2021 with an aim of raising mental health awareness.

Organizing committee secretary Patwell Phiri said they have decided to come up with the mental health awareness show after noticing high suicide cases over this year due to mental related issues.

“It’s true that Nkhoma FM has organized a poetry show which will take place at Lilongwe CCAP on December 12, 2021. Artists who are going to perform this day includes Nyamalikiti Nthiwatiwa who is also the former president of poetry association of Malawi, we also have Raphael Sitima from Mulanje, and also Madalitso Kambalame not forgetting lagend Mada Nyambo and Deus Sandram Obwande and many other poets”

“The aim of this poetry show, we want to raise mental Health Awareness as the nation we have been passing through difficult times, we have been registering alot of suicide cases and also some people going disturbed mentally because of the mental health issues due to situation that they have been passing through maybe because of broken marrieges, because of lacking school fees and others because of economic hardships we are passing through that’s why we have come up with this theme ‘rising mental health awareness’ so that people should now what they can do if affected mentally” said Phiri

He said apart from from well know artists who have confirmed their availability, they have also invited  ministers of Civic Education and Gender to glance the occasion.

Phiri further revealed that during the show, Nkhoma Synod Radio will also take the advantage of launching their 2022 calendars.

“In addition to all the activities we will also be launching the Nkhoma FM 2022 calendar and the first 100 people to patronise the show will enjoy free HD pictures while first 15 people will receive Mvangeli Sadzu Poet CD”

According to Patwell Phiri, tickets for the show are currently available at the Nkhoma Radio offices inside Lilongwe CCAP campus which are going at K2000 but the price will be raised to K3000 for those who will pay at the gates.
