Former UTM Director of Youth Bon Kalindo has dumped a vehicle he was allocated by the party at Dorvic Hotel in Blantyre.
Kalindo, widely known as Winiko in entertainment circles, dumped the vehicle and left the key at the reception soon after announcing his resignation from the party.
He said whosever will collect it on behalf of the party will find “the keys at the reception”.
Addressing journalists in Blantyre on Wednesday, Kalindo said he cannot continue serving the party which is in government and has failed to fulfill its campaign promises.
He cited the creation of 1 million jobs within a year and rampant corruption taking place in government as examples.
UTM, together with Malawi Congress Party’s (MCP) and seven other parties form the Tonse Alliance which leader Lazarus Chakwera is the country’s President.
UTM leader Saulos Chilima is Malawi’s Vice President.
Kalindo’s announcement came few hours after Chilima left for the United Arab Emirates to attend the World Expo.
Kalindo is also organizing demonstration against rising cost of living under Tonse Allliance November 19, 2021 in Blantyre.
The demonstrations in Blantyre will be followed another demonstrations in Lilongwe on November 26, 2021 and later in Mzuzu on December 3, 2021.
Kalindo said the demonstrations in Blantyre will start from Blantyre Magistrate Court via Victoria Avenue to Civic Centre.
