CORI Regional Manager Madivar arrested for calling activist ‘dog’

Capital Oil Refining Industry (CORI) Northern Region Manager Anand Madivar has been arrested for calling a human rights activist Happy Mhango a ‘dog’ in public.

Mzuzu police spokesperson, Paul Tembo confirmed the arrest of a 32-year-old Indian national, Madivar, for allegedly calling another person, a Malawian citizen, a ‘dog’ in public.

Tembo said Madivar, who is expected to appear before Mzuzu Principal Resident magistrate court has been charged with insulting a person.

He said the incident happened at Kentam Mall in Mzuzu where the two were seeking services from a mobile phone operator.

Mhango said he was insulted by the suspect because he had questioned him why he was refusing to be on a queue.

CORI manufatures vegitable cooking oil from oil seeds called Kukoma.
