Government to revise Queens’ players perks

Government has pledged to revise with immediate effect daily training allowances and game bonuses for the Malawi National Netball team- ‘The Queens’. Minister of Sports Richard Chimwendo said this when he visited the The Queens on the side-lines of the Tri-Nations tournament which Malawi has been hosting this week at the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences Sports Complex in Blantyre. Currently Queens’ players receive MK5,000 as daily training allowance and MK50 000 for a win. Sable Farming ended a run of six games without victory by beating Mighty Tigers 2-0 at Mulanje Park Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. Following excellent start of the first half, Sable took the lead after 10 minutes through Franklin Mlimanjala who made a simple finish inside the box. Maduka joins Maritzburg United

Maritzburg United has announced the acquisition of former Malawian player John Maduka as their new head coach. Maduka resigned from Royal AM last week after enjoying great success for the Shauwn Mkhize's side last season. Reports from the Rainbow Nation indicates that the former Royal AM manager was unveiled at a special press conference earlier today. Maduka has signed a three year contract with the Team of Choice and will start at the Club ahead of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season. He will be assisted by Ditheko Mototo who has also been announced today as the assistant coach. PGAMW announces return of Warm Heart Pro-Tournament 2022

The Professional Golfers Association of Malawi (PGAMW) has announced the return of the Warm Heart Pro Tournament 2022, after three year of absence. The tournament which was last played in it's inaugural year back in November 2018, has been slated for the month of September and will run from 7th up to 11th this year. The PGAMW will run the tournament with the support from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Wildlife as per their memorundum of understanding signed in October 2020, in which Government agreed to be supporting the annual professional Golf tournament dubbed "The Warm Heart Professional Golf tournament" after realizing the positive impacts the tournament will bring to this nation. Mighty Mukuru Wanderers Commercialization Chairperson Clement Stambuli has called on government to step in and bail out the team from a K59 million debt the team accumulated for the 2017 CAF Champions League. Stambuli was speaking on Wednesday in Blantyre during the unveiling ceremony of Mukuru Financial Company as the team's official sponsor. The Nomads announced last month that they secured a K200million naming rights sponsorship deal from Mukuru financial company which has now been revealed tobe K175 million. The Malawi Open chess tournament featuring four Zambian international players has concluded over the weekend at Lingadzi Inn, in Lilongwe and the winners have been awarded various prizes. According to Chess Association of Malawi (Chessam) Publicity Secretary, Chimthere Alfred, there were four sections attracting 62 participants that were played during the three-day event namely; the Open, Ladies, Youth and Veterans category. He said in the Open Section, Candidate Master George Mwale won with 7 points out of 9 games, while the Zambians Geoffrey Lwanja and William Mwape came second and third on 7 and 6.5 points respectively.
