Late Archbishop Tarcisius Ziyaye of the Roman Catholic Church remains will be interred inside Maula Cathedral, the Church has confirmed.
In an interview with The Atlas Malawi, Lilongwe Archdiocese Communications Coordinator Fr. Louis Chikanya said that is according to the Roman Catholic Church doctrines.
According to Catholic doctrines, a Bishop who dies while still in office can be buried inside the church or at a special resting place specifically prepared for Bishops.
Only retired Bishops are buried at places set aside for catholic priests and nuns.
He will be the first Bishop in the country to be buried Inside Cathedral of Lilongwe.
Ziyaye, who until his death was Lilongwe Diocese Archbishop died in Namibia where he was receiving medical treatment.
Ziyaye’s remains are being expected to jet in today noon via Kamuzu International Airport ,and he is expected to be laid to rest on Saturday after a final Eucharist Celebration (Holy Mass) at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.
Bishop Ziyaye was born on 19th May, 1949 at Khombe Village, Ludzi Parish, Mchinji District
