The Central Region Football Association (CRFA) has set 23 October this year as the day it will kick off the K5 million Nyasa Finance Capital Regional League Cup.
The league cup was unveiled last month by the sponsors Nyasa Finance Capital at an event that took place at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.
Nyasa Finance Capital is sponsoring league cups in all three regions of Malawi to the tune of MK45 million for 3 years.
In a statement after an Executive committee meeting in Lilongwe, CRFA says 24 Premier division teams in the region will participate in the competition and will be in three groups.
The groups will be Salima, Mchinji and Lilongwe.
“Top six teams will be seeded from the first round of the league and the remaining 18 will play each other to get 9 teams to join the seeded teams.” reads part of thr statement.
For teams to participate in the league cup they will register with MK30, 000 and the closing date for registration of teams is the 18th of October this year.
The champions will take home MK1.2 million while runners up will cart home MK500, 000 while third and fourth placed teams will get MK200, 000 and MK100, 000 respectively.
The final game is expected to be played on 18 December this year.
